Nilam hit southern India at approximately 1630IST or 1130UTC bringing with it 100kph winds and a massive surge of late season rains. Already totals confirmed by the WMO are adding up to 180mm in the past 24hrs and with more rains expected this total will continue to increase. A high risk of flash flooding will persist in the southern portions of the country while waves near the coastline kick up to dangerous levels.
