Cyclone Nilam is getting closer and closer to the India coast where it has already brought over 120mm of rainfall in the past 24hrs. Now more rains strong winds up to 100kph and 1-2 meter storm surge threaten the areas near Chennai as the storm roars on shore through the overnight hours in southern India. Meanwhile in the western pacific the tropics remain quite on this halloween day.
