Jelawat is bringing typhoon strength winds across the Southern Japanese islands today, now going through the next several days the storm looks like it will bring rough weather to Okinawa then eventually mainland Japan as it charges north.
The storm already has brought winds up to 152kph and higher than that could be expected across Okinawa through the next 24hrs. Sea heights are also building up to 12meters in some locations making traveling out to the beaches absolutely impossible and dangerous.
A landfall of a Severe Tropical system will likely occur on sunday evening as it charges north effecting the Kii Peninsula first and then Tokyo in the over night hours in to monday.
