Typhoon Tembin is forecast to make landfall in Southern Taiwan in the next 12 hours bringing strong winds and heavy rains across the country. Tembin will then weaken to a Tropical Storm as it moves east of Taiwan by Tuesday. Heavy rains of up to 500mm possible along the mountainous areas as precipitation is forecast to linger through Tuesday evening. Tembin will then move northward and could threaten Shanghai by Thursday.

Meanwhile, Typhoon Bolaven continues to accelerate away from Okinawa and into the Korean Peninsula. However, due to the sheer size of the system, rains and strong winds continue to linger across the Ryukyu Islands. Amami actually reported seeing more than 300mm of rain in the past 24 hours. On the other side, rains are also beginning to make their way across Jeju Island and will spread into the Korean Peninsula tonight. Rains of up to 300mm also possible here, especially along North Korea as Bolaven is forecast to make landfall there as a Tropical Storm by Tuesday aftenroon.

Latest radar from South Korea shows bands of rain beginning to impact Jeju Island and could soon make their way towards the Peninsula later this evening. Due to the large circulation of Bolaven, we expect rains to persist for at least two days so some areas of the Korean Peninsula could certainly receive 300mm of rain or more in the next 2 days.
