Devastating Floods have been impacting the Philippines the past week now resulting in widespread pooling of water within the urban areas. Many homes have been partially submerged due to these storms that have been continuing to hit Luzon and the big kicker with them is that they are not related directly to any tropical systems. This is an example of the south west monsoon and a poor infrastructure combined to create a devastating scenario. More rain is expected in the region through the remainder of the week but hopefully by friday and saturday the monsoonal flow should start to slow improving conditions.
In eastern china Haikui is now moving ashore taking with it an abundant amount of rainfall. Shanghai and neighboring cities could be high at risk of serious flooding as this storm continues to gather strength before making landfall Wednesday morning. Over 350mm of heavy rain could fall across the east coast adding to the flooding risk here.
