Around 0300 Local Typhoon Saola slammed in to North Eastern Taiwan after the storm baffled many forecasters and swung to the west very rapidly through the early morning hours. This video documents that swing and also the storms effects on the island where sadly now four deaths have been recorded in Taiwan. This is on top of the 14 that the storm has been blamed for in the Philippines and one missing person in Japan. Some 1700mm of rainfall has occured in North East Taiwan over the past 72hrs. This rainfall combined with the mountain slopes of Taiwan will lead to severe flooding and also high risk of landslides through the coming days. Also we look at Damrey and its path as it continues to rush North West in to North East China. This storm brough 100kph plus sustained winds to southern Kyushu on Wed. and now the storm threatens to bring the rough weather to the other side of the East China Sea.
