Transportation disruptions due to inclement weather:
2300Z (0700AM-PHL)-Ocean Jet No. 1 bound for Bacolod City, Negros Occidental with 134 passengers on board were denied safe docking at Bredco Port in Bacolod City due to high surf and dangerous gale-force winds associated with the prevailing Southwest (SW) Monsoon a.k.a “Habagat.” The intended docking was aborted, thus the vessel was forced to return to its port of origin in Muelle Loney, Iloilo City.
Another fast ferry operator Weesam Express had also experience rough sea conditions during their 2230Z (0630AM-PHL) en route to Bredco Port in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, when unfavorable weather and compounded with the astronomical tide of 1.8m at 2353Z (0753AM-PHL) was recorded. The Philippine Coast Guard Auxilliary (PCGA) in Iloilo City has recalled all vessels to and from Iloilo and Bacolod City to cancel their trips in the light of worsening weather situation, and were advised to resume operations when the weather clears.
2330Z (0730AM-PHL)-Regular motorized pumpboat trips from Parola wharf, Iloilo City en route to Jordan and Buenavista wharves in Guimaras Island were also restricted to fare the rough sea conditions prompting disgust from the passengers who were unprepared in such disruption. Considering the volume of stranded passengers in the Parola and Muelle Loney, the PCGA has allowed some rather larger motorized pumpboats to operate with reduced number of passengers limited to twenty (20) per trip, which resulted to higher fares. Please stand by for more details of this developing story. #weatherguyadonis @weartherguyadonz
