Typhoon Vicente Makes Landfall Just West of Hong Kong

For the first time since 1999 Signal Force 10 has been issued in Hong Kong. This is there highest warning level issued. It was put out after the intense rapid strengthening of Vicente in the evening through overnight hours as it approached southern China’s Guangdong Province about 100km to the west of Hong Kong.

At this time various news sources have indicated up wards of about 30 people injured in Hong Kong with little reports coming out of Guangdong at this time. Given the strength of this storm if this is the total amounts of injures and casualties then southern China will have been spared with this intense storm.

Meanwhile travelers felt the wrath of this storm as numerous flights were cancelled leaving 3,000 people stranded at the HK airport. Similar conditions for residents were felt as well as those who could not make the last ferry in the evening to go to some of the outer islands were left on the mainland until the winds and the waves in Queens Harbor subsided.

Now Vicente moves west where it is expected to continue to pull moisture out of the South China Sea creating a large landslide and flood risk across the Southern China Provinces.
The Video update above is a look at conditions now. Please take a look at our previous updates for more information and if you have any information, photos or videos of this storm please do share.
