37 Dead and Thousands Stranded in Beijings Worst Flood In Over Half a Century

Over the weekend a strong low pressure system caused record breaking flooding across North East China and particularly hit hard the city of Beijing. At this time death reports are nearing 40 all due to various reasons from Drowning to building collapses. Over 30,000 people have been forced to evacuate due to the rapid and intense rise in water levels. This was caused by over 460mm rainfall in a one day and is record breaking flooding and the worst in 61 years since records began in the Metropolitan area.  Meanwhile over 500 flights have been cancelled at the airport resulting in thousands being stranded at the airport.

Today though the weather has improved yet flooding is still high at risk due to river runoff and if any isolated storms do blow up this could only worst the scenario.
