A relatively quite day in the tropics compared to earlier the start of this very active tropical season. There are still a few areas that need watching though. First a low pre
ssure area towards the East of the Philippines is embedded within the southwest monsoon. This area is not looking as to develop in
to anything organized. But still some short time heavy rain mainly in the afternoon hours will be coming out of this. Also towards the west thunderstorms dropping up to 80mm in a 24hr period have been developing in Thailand. This will continue to occur as the south west monsoon continues to develop.
Farther North the rainy season front is starting to loose its distinct satellite signature. As it begins to meander more and looses upper level jet support one would expect the rainy season in Japan and china to start to relax. This is not occurring just yet though
and a new low pressure area is expected to develop out of North East China by mid-week and run across Korea and then in to Northern Japan.
Temperatures remain hot in china though. With somewhat of a cool down across Japan. To the left is a look at your high temperatures for Monday.
Also please check out Michael Williams update for the weekend and also his in depth look back at what has occurs so far in 2012.
