Westernpacificweather HKO issued Storm Signal No. 8: Winds are expected to reach 63 km/hr or more from the Southeast, as per observations by HKO near 21.7N-113.9E, Tropical Storm 07W “DOKSURI,” is forecast to move West-northwest@30 km/hr inching closer to the West of Pearl River Estuary in a few hours, passing within 100 km to the South-southwest of Hong Kong.

In the past hour, the maximum sustained winds recorded at Star Ferry and Cheung Chau were 63 and 71 kilometres per hour with maximum gusts 82 and 87 kilometres per hour respectively.

There had been reports of winds gusting more than 100 km/hr especially in exposed areas. We will continue to monitor the progress of the system as information comes in. Stay safe out there. Below is the latest Doppler Radar Imagery from the agency. #weatherguyadonis @weatherguyadonz

Westernpacificweather HKO has issued a Tropical Cyclone Warning. A bulletin was issued at 1645 HKT, Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 is in force, mean winds reaching 41-62 km/hr are expected. At 1700 HKT, Tropical Storm 07W “DOKSURI,” located at 21.2N-115.6E, 190 km SE of Hong Kong, heading WNW@30 km/hr towards Pearl River Estuary, winds are forecast to strengthen well into midnight, where issuance of Gale or Storm Signal No. 8 is possible tonight.

In the past hour, the maximum sustained winds recorded at Ngong Ping and Waglan Island were 65 and 64 kilometres per hour respectively. Residents are being alerted to heed the warnings and are encouraged not to venture out to sea and stay indoors in the approach of the storm. #weatherguyadonis @weartherguyadonz

Its sheared convection has already made landfall this morning, which already has triggered widespread rains across much of Northern and Central Luzon. Below are some readings I picked up via AWS re PAGASA’s Project NOAH nearest to the storm:

Westernpacificweather  - Winds have started to pick-up gusting to 18.6 km/hr here in Iloilo City where I am located, accompanied by sheets of pelting rains associated with the surging induced Southwest Monsoon being pulled in by Tropical Storm 07W “DOKSURI/DINDO.” In Sipalay City, Negros Occidental they have recorded rainfall amounts reaching 12.2 mm for the last 2 hrs. More heavy rains have been starting to fall across Cebu, Bohol and parts of Central Leyte Island for the past 6 hrs. Unfortunately, due to lack of public access to Baler, Aurora’s PAGASA Doppler Radar facility, I cannot confirm how much precipitation has been falling there since it is the nearest location to the Southwestern edge of the storm. #weatherguyadonis @weatherguyadonz

Westernpacificweather  - PAGASA’s Project NOAH pass over the last 15 minutes indicate rainfall accumulation in 2.4-6.5 mm/hr over Bocaue, Marilao River in Bulacan, NCR, while most of precipitation remains offshore, La Castellana, Candoni, Bais City in Negros Island, Ginatilan in Southern Cebu topped at 2.8-18.0 mm/hr. San Juanico Strait over Tacloban City, in Northeastern Leyte Island has received a hefty 2.4-2.8 mm/hr of rainfall. Southeastern Mindanao in Hinatuan City, Surigao del Sur, 2.4-18.0 mm/hr was also recorded associated with the persisting ITCZ.
